The incident occurred on Wednesday, November 19, but the case has only become known in recent hours. According to information provided to the Argentine News Agency, over a week ago, 64-year-old Miguel Ángel Berlini, who worked as a rideshare driver, went to the Robles Clinic, located at Virrey del Pino 2500, for a dental procedure. The patient underwent a dental implant procedure, which is not considered high-risk, but the maxillofacial and plastic surgeons confirmed that Berlini never regained consciousness after the intervention was completed. "Due to the lack of response, the two doctors, aged 47 and 57, performed resuscitation maneuvers with a negative result," they indicated. They immediately notified the SAME emergency service, which, minutes later, around 4:40 p.m., confirmed the man's death. Due to the situation, the City Police were called to the scene, where they found the patient "lying in the operating room, with no signs of violence or disorder in the area." In parallel, authorities contacted Berlini's family, and it was his sister who informed them that the man "had no known underlying health conditions." At the order of the National Prosecutor's Office for Criminal and Correctional Matters No. 59, led by Prosecutor Laura Belloqui, the two involved doctors were arrested. Furthermore, the seizure of their professional credentials and the patient's medical history was ordered, in addition to the transfer of the body for an autopsy, the results of which will determine further measures. Finally, a closure seal was placed on the office, which was examined by personnel from the Criminalistics Unit. Meanwhile, the case has been filed as negligent homicide, while the investigation continues.
